Team H-Town: 2008-2009

The hip hop formation Team H-Town is comprised of the two MCs Tobah and Hefal, as well as a conglomerate of featured artists (Sliver, Dantaya, Milkman, Anne, Crystal) and producers. The origins of the diverse instrumentals also ensure diversification in all things sound. The name Team H-Town originates from both protagonists circle of friends, a large part of which is made up of Hueteldorfers and Hueteldorfphiles thus the term H-Town was coined. A phenomenon that spans the globe (Hannover, Houston, H-Town).

Swingdance Big Band: 2008-2009

Die Swingdance Big Band spielt in Originalbesetzung: 5 Saxophone, 4 Trompeten, 4 Posaunen, Klavier, Gitarre, Bass und Schlagzeug und interpretiert den maechtigen Big-Band-Sound aus allen Epochen des Jazz: Unsere Spezialitaeten sind alte Raritaeten die kaum eine andere Big Band im Repertoire hat wie Kompositionen und Arrangements von Benny Goodman, Tommy Dorsey, Harry James, ..aus den 20er und 30er Jahren, selbstverstaendlich auch Werke der weltbekannten Orchester von Count Basie, Duke Ellington und Ray Anthony. Auch Glenn Miller wird gerne und oft gespielt - natuerlich nach den Originalnoten seiner Arrangeure Jeff Hest und Joe Garland. Weiters haben wir auch moderne Big Band-Literatur von Lennie Niehaus und Sammy Nestico, Thad Jones, Bill Holman und Bob Mintzer im Programm. Ausserdem spielen wir auch originelle Eigenkompositionen und Arrangements von unserem Posaunisten Alexander Lag, dem Bandleader Wolfgang Wanderer und unserem Pianisten Michael Krottendorfer.

James Hall Group: 2007-2009

After moving to Vienna in 2007 for my insatiable appetite for schnitzel, this group was the medium for my takeover of the European jazz scene, though I always lacked the necessary tight pants and beret. The music I compose for this group is heavily influenced by such musicians as Kenny Wheeler, Dave Douglas, and Maria Schneider. The lineup includes saxophonist Viola Falb, pianist Julia Siedl, bassist Ulrich Radlberger, and drummer Bernd Schneidhofer, all of whom rock, if one can say that about jazz musicians. If not, say what you want: they swing, they groove, they're a ruthless posse of bloodthirsty musicians, they're a blossoming cherry tree of creativity and love, they're the coolest thing to happen to jazz music since aloofness... be creative.

Vienna Big Band Project: 2007-2008

Was vor vielen Jahren unter dem Namen "Vienna Big Band Project" begann, scheint mittlerweile l?gst kein "Project" mehr zu sein. 20 leidenschaftliche Musiker(innen) haben sich der modernen Big Band Literatur verschrieben. Latin Jazz, Funk und Jazzrock von Komponisten, die selbst eingefleischte Big Band Fans bis dato noch nie geh?t haben finden sich ebenso im Repertoire wie Eigenkompositionen und Swingjazz vom Feinsten. Deshalb wird auch die Fangemeinde dieser Formation immer gr?er. Nicht zu unrecht wird die Band in der "Kronen Zeitung" als beste Amateur Big Band Wiens bezeichnet. Diverse S?gerinnen wie zB Anita Horn (Mainstreet) und Ursula Gerstbach (W. Ambros) werden regelm?ig von der Band begleitet. Diese Vielfalt ist genau das was die Zuh?er zu sch?zen wissen. Denn ob Jazz, Rock oder Funkfan- jeder kommt auf seine Rechnung.

The Adrian Gaspar Orchestra: 2007-2008

Billed as the world's youngest jazz big band, the AGO was founded in 2005 as a crossover balkan/jazz fusion ensemble performing the compositions of its leader, Adrian Gaspar. Four weeks after its founding, the group had its first performance in Vienna's famed Porgy & Bess club. Since then, the group has performed at such venues as the 2006 "Balkan Fever" festival, Szene-Wien, and Donauinselfest. The group received the Publikumspreis of the Austrian World Music Awards in 2006, and has performed abroad in Trento and Verona, Italy. 2007 saw the group release their first CD, "All.can B-jazz." The group refreshed its lineup and concept in 2008, and became a more strictly jazz-oriented ensemble.
